Event Brief
“Festivals promote diversity, they bring neighbors into dialogue, they increase creativity, they offer opportunities for civic pride, they improve our general psychological well-being. In short, they make cities better places to live.”
The Himalayan Foundation Chandigarh tries to make Diwali a special one for many through its another heart-warming event “Roshni”. The true essence of Diwali is in spreading love with those who are around you, be it anyone. And the event works towards this cause only.
The main motive of the event is to promote “Swadeshi Diwali” in different parts of Tricity. Swadeshi Diwali means to buy and use on Diwali, only the products that are made by the Indian workers, so that the Swadeshi products are promoted along with the financial upliftment of the makers of these products.
The event includes two segments. The first half is where various institutions such as schools, orphanages etc. around the Tricity are visited, and diya painting and many fun activities are conducted. The D-Day consists of an exhibition of the children’s creativity, combined with a lot of fun and frolic. The event leaves each and every face lightened with smiles, and makes the festival of lights actually a lighted one for many people.
